After people costs, office space is typically an organization's second largest expense item, so you'll want to ensure that you not only maximize every inch of square footage you have available, but also that your staff have the adaquate amount of office space to work effectively.

When it comes to working out how much office space each employee needs, the general rule of thumb is to allow anywhere between 175-250 square foot per employee. This allows ample room for a workstation, chair, pedestal etc. If you require larger private executive offices, you need to allow more square footage for those.
There are other issues you 'll need to consider when space planning your new office and calculating your office space requirements.

What IT equipment does each worker require?
Who interacts on a daily basis?
What amount of storage space is required?
What are the work styles and processes?
