Planning Your Office Build-Out
One of the most exciting parts of an office relocation is the office design and build out phase of your newly found office. You'll be working closely with an Office Design Team (Architect, Contractor & Office Designer) to make all sort of important decisions involving color scheme, office furniture options, lighting, signage and the layout of your lobby area. All these elements will come together to enhance your chosen new office space and transform it to create the ideal working environment that is both inspiring and functional.
The initial phase of an office build out project will begin with an Architect carrying out a workplace appraisal which makes an assessment of your current office working practices, space and workstation requirements and IT infrastructure set up.
Your Office Build-Out budget will be discussed at an early stage of the project too. They'll be loads of exciting ideas floating around with your Office Design Team - some you may want to incorporate, but maybe your budget won't stretch to it. So treat the Office Build-Out project like a shopping list - eventually you'll have a 'need to have' list and a 'nice to have'. Make sure you update your Moving Office Budget Template with the quotation provided by your Office Design Team. That way, you'll know exactly what you can and can't spend on your Office Build-Out.
Once your needs and budget have been established the Office Design Team will prepare CAD drawings and architectural models to help you visualize the final result. Once these have been signed off, the entire project is monitored to ensure it is delivered to the right specification, within budget and on time. Most Office Build-Out projects are what is known as 'turnkey approach' which means, upon completion, you can literally walk in to your new office, switch on your computers and get to work.
